Hebron village president arrested on drug, gun charges

Hebron Village President John Jacobson was taken into custody Tuesday by the McHenry County sheriff's office and the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Task Force after he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and a controlled substance, among other charges, according to a McHenry County sheriff's office news release.

The sheriff's office was first called to Jacobson's home on the 12300 block of Jacob Avenue March 17 after a friend of Jacobson's called 911 to report he was not breathing and was beginning to turn blue, the sheriff's office said.

Jacobson was taken to Mercy Harvard Hospital, where he was treated and released.

While talking to Jacobson's friend who called 911, Jeanna Rosing, deputies saw drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight, according to the release.

A search of Jacobson's home turned up less than one gram of cocaine, two crack pipes, Chore Boy, a shotgun and ammunition, according to reports.

The sheriff's office worked with the McHenry County state's attorney's office to approve warrants and charges, and served Jacobson with the arrest warrants and took him into custody Tuesday.

Jacobson was taken to the McHenry County Correctional Facility where his bail is set at $25,000, the sheriff's office said. He is awaiting a court date.

Rosing was also taken to the McHenry County Correctional Facility for three unrelated outstanding warrants against her for retail theft.
