Nordstrom Rack to open in Algonquin Commons

An upscale discount retailer is coming to the Randall Road corridor in Algonquin later this year.

Nordstrom Rack is expected to open this fall in the Algonquin Commons Shopping Center. The business will be in the vacant storefronts between Ulta and Ross Dress for Less, said Kim Gilmore of Gilmore Marketing Concepts, Inc., which does marketing for Algonquin Commons.

Previously, those vacant spaces at 1806 and 1808 S. Randall Road housed Office Max and PetSmart, both of which closed last year.

The new Nordstrom Rack will be a 31,0000-square-foot, one-level store, according to a news release from Nordstrom.

"We're thrilled by the customer response as we've continued to open Nordstrom Rack stores in Greater Chicago," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack.

"We continue to focus on finding excellent locations across the area, and with its great mix of retail we're excited to be opening at Algonquin Commons."

Nordstrom Rack carries shoes, accessories, makeup, jewelry, perfume and more. It is a division of Nordstrom, with many of the similar items, but at discounted prices.

The store has many devoted shoppers, especially those eager to hunt for bargains.

Presently, though, local shoppers must head to the nearest locations in Schaumburg or Naperville to hit up the deals at Nordstrom Rack. This new Algonquin location will be the 15th in the Chicagoland area.

The news of the store's opening is a positive for Algonquin Commons, which has seen many stores recently leaving the mall.

Most recently, the mall lost the Gap, Gordman's and PetSmart. Stride Rite is leaving the mall and is holding discount sales before it closes this spring.
