She feels neglected by Mount Prospect Park District
Our address is in Des Plaines. Our township is Elk Grove and our park district is Mount Prospect.
We pay our taxes and they are divided to the designated communities; however, the park district does a poor job with our area. What about us? Case in point, since living in Des Plaines for 20 years, we have had some kind of ice skating rink in the High Ridge Knolls - which is behind our home. This has been a great place for the kids to get outside and have some fun skating and playing hockey. There are lights and everything.
The last few years, Mount Prospect Park District did not feel our rink needed the attention. They have decreased the size by half, telling us they wanted to have boards around it and have a liner to keep the grass from coming through. Now all we have is a box in the grass. Never maintained. The kids skate on the outside of the box because it is nicer.
However, when visiting Lions Park, their ice is beautifully maintained. Why are we getting the bad end of the deal? We pay taxes like the "Mt. Prospect resident." Are we not worthy?
