Karen Aylward-Starr, director of special services in Huntley Community School District 158, has been named the new assistant superintendent of educational services for Elk Grove Township Elementary School District 59.

Aylward-Starr was selected from a pool of more than 40 candidates, after three rounds of interviews with teachers, administrators, school board members and a parent. Her hiring was approved last week by the board.

An educator for 12 years, Aylward-Starr has spent half that time in her current position. She moves into her new role in District 59 in the 2016-17 school year.
