Jarett Sanchez offers a fresh perspective in the Kane County Board's 24th District, which includes portions of Carpentersville and Barrington Hills. He became interested in a seat on the board while canvassing for a group opposed to the Longmeadow Parkway bridge. His approach to the bridge project and the development of the former Settler's Hill landfill near Geneva are a result of healthy skepticism and thoughtful contemplation rather than blind cynicism. He impresses us as someone who will calmly work well with others but not blindly toe the company line.

Joseph Haimann won election four years ago running unopposed after having been beaten two years earlier.

He fiercely supports both the Longmeadow bridge and a cross-country track at the landfill site and is confident both would be self-sustaining.

But besides having a terrific attendance record for county meetings, he hasn't done much to distinguish himself.

Sanchez is endorsed.
