Endorsement: Hall for GOP in Kane County Dist. 24
The race for the Republican primary in Kane County's 24th District is a bit of a tossup.
Roben Hall of Carpentersville, who has worked for a few social service agencies and is a vocal opponent of the Longmeadow Parkway bridge, is an earnest candidate though somewhat new to the details of issues in county government.
Billita Jacobsen is much more of a known quantity, having run, albeit unsuccessfully, for county board, Carpentersville village board and Dundee Township park board. She has been a leader in the fight against Longmeadow for two decades and has long protested bow hunting on county land. She says she is running now because she's angry.
Jacobsen has pulled Democratic ballots for nine out of 10 partisan elections in the past 20 years but now calls herself a "progressive Republican."
Hall seems to have a broader list of concerns and a more open mind, though her opposition to Longmeadow is unwavering.
Hall is endorsed.
