Dunkin' Donuts coming to Algonquin gas station
It soon will be a little easier to grab that cup of coffee and some breakfast in the morning if you're traveling along the Randall Road corridor.
The existing BP gas station in Algonquin at 1469 S. Randall Road is expected to get a Dunkin' Donuts with a drive-through lane this year.
"I expect a spring construction time frame," said Katie Parkhurst, the senior planner for the Village of Algonquin.
Parkhurst added that the Dunkin' Donuts has already been approved by the village board for the drive-through. The plans have been submitted to the village for review, she said.
Dunkin' Donuts previously had a Randall Road area location in Algonquin, just to the west of Randall on Algonquin Road. However, that business moved to a new store just to the north on Randall in Lake in the Hills a few years ago.
That location is on the west side of Randall, while the new drive through will be on the east side, so whichever direction you're traveling, you can pull over and hit the Dunkin' Donuts.

In preparation for the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 28, there will be a pre-Oscar party this month along the Randall Road corridor.
The Barnes and Noble in Geneva, 102 Commons Drive, is hosting an awards party at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20. There will be movie trivia, party games, prizes and entertaining tips for hosting your own Oscar party on the night of the actual Academy Awards. The event is free.
It does help when you've seen some of the movies. Many of the theaters up and down the Randall Road corridor still are showing the Academy Award nominees, so you can get a leg up on your competition by screening them ahead of time.

One gone, the other's not:
There has been some confusion about which clothing store recently closed at Geneva Commons.
The Ann Taylor store at the outdoor mall along the Randall Road corridor did close this month, disappointing many loyal shoppers.
Many of you emailed to say you stopped by and saw the doors were closed and were upset to lose the women's clothing store from the mall. There is no word yet on what will take its place.
However, the Loft store in Geneva Commons still is open. Some were confused and thought that was the store that had closed since the businesses are related.
The Loft store in Algonquin Commons, which also is along the Randall Road corridor, also remains open.
