Highwood Chamber names new board of directors

The Highwood Chamber of Commerce announced its new board of directors for 2016 at its annual dinner at the Highwood Bocce Club on Feb. 6. Chamber members and nonmembers dined, networked and engaged in a few rounds of bocce while recognizing past members for their hard work and dedication to the city.

Past President Jennifer Zanotti Ori handed over the reigns to Julie Brugioni, owner of The Silk Thumb, to take over as president of the Highwood Chamber of Commerce for 2016. Zanotti will continue to take an active role on the board as vice president with Tom Garrity of Toadstool Pub.

Other directors of the board for 2016 inducted include: Pat Lenzini of Pat's Catering and Canning, Brian Lock of State Farm's Brian Lock Insurance Agency, George Markoutsas of ABL Group, Walter Parenti of Viti Financial and Dominic Ugolini of Becks Heating.

"I'm so excited to lead the Highwood Chamber in a forward direction as we create and execute innovative programs that grow our business community," Brugioni said.

"We have an active board of directors and are always welcoming new members to join our growing team. I also want to thank outgoing board members Melissa Sands of Vintage Promotions and Ila Coretti of @properties for their contributions."

Chamber members will continue to benefit from business mixers and after hours events in 2016, including Girls Night Out, bringing together women from surrounding communities to shop and dine in Highwood, and the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring the 12 Drinks of Christmas from local bars and restaurants in front of city hall.

All these events add to the ongoing series of successful "Celebrate Highwood" collaborations with the Highwood Historical Society in the production of Highwood's Evening Markets, Bloody Mary Fest and Garlic Fest.

The Highwood Chamber of Commerce is at 445 Sheridan Road. For details, visit www.highwoodchamberofcommerce.com or www.celebratehighwood.com, or call (847) 433-2100.
