Bud Selig to teach at Arizona State's College of Law

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Former baseball commissioner Bud Selig will teach sports law and business at Arizona State's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.

The university said Tuesday that Selig had been appointed the O'Connor distinguished professor of sports in America. In addition to teaching, he will become founding president of the sports law and business advisory board.

Now 81, Selig headed the group that bought the Seattle Pilots in bankruptcy court in 1970 and moved the team to Milwaukee, where it was renamed the Brewers. He became the chairman of baseball's executive council in 1992 after helping lead the group that forced Commissioner Fay Vincent's resignation, and he served as commissioner from July 1998 until January 2015.

In addition to his house in Milwaukee, Selig has long had a second home in Scottsdale.
