Minnesota's Banham named Big Ten player of week

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota's Rachel Banham is the Big Ten women's basketball player of the week after tying an NCAA record with 60 points in a game.

Banham broke the Big Ten single-game scoring record and tied the NCAA record in a 112-106 double-overtime win over Northwestern Sunday.

The 5-foot-9 senior guard from Lakeville made 19 of 32 shots, including 8 of 15 from 3-point range, and hit 14 of 16 free throws. She also had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Golden Gophers.

Banham also scored 24 points and had five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Rutgers.

It's Banham's fourth career Big Ten Player of the Week award and second this season.
