Six Streamwood athletes sign NLIs

National Signing Day kicked off at Streamwood High School on Tuesday with six athletes declaring their collegiate intentions.

Signees at a special ceremony headed by athletic director Mark Orszula included softball player Jessica Daley (University of Wisconsin-Stout); baseball player Dan Mikosz (Trinity International); equestrian Rebecca Kozma (Auburn University); and football players Jake Painter (Robert Morris University), Tae Reetz, (University of Minnesota-Duluth); and Brian "Nino" Adkins (Bemidji State University).

"It mean a lot to me," said Adkins, who led the Sabres with 43 catches for 589 yards and 4 touchdowns last fall. "It's the next chapter in my life, and hopefully getting better and better and moving on after college if I can. They want me to play cornerback for them as a freshman."

Added Painter, who had 112 tackles, 5 sacks and a pair of interceptions for the Sabres last fall: "Honestly, it feels like everything I ever worked for is in that paper. I've worked really hard for the things that I have today, and I feel like everything I've ever done is toward that moment, taking it to the next level and playing college football."
