District 62 hosts its Boogie Nights benefit

Do you like to boogie? Are you a child of the '70s? Do you support student learning? If your answer is yes, then you need to attend Boogie Nights - the District 62 Foundation benefit Friday, Feb. 19.

You will support a great cause while dancing the night away to the musical stylings of the D62s, a band made up of District 62 teachers and administrators.

D62 performances have delighted crowds since their inception. Their talent, combined with food, a silent auction and raffles, will turn Café la Cave into a disco inferno. Proceeds benefit foundation-funded activities, field trips, events and assemblies that enrich and support more than 4,900 District 62 students.

Café la Cave is at 2777 Mannheim Road, Des Plaines. Tickets are $50. Festivities begin at 6 p.m., including a dinner reception, silent auction, raffles and cash beverages.

All funds raised during the evening are used to fund grants submitted by District 62 teachers and staff. During the 2015-2016 school year, the foundation funded 45 grants totaling $32,000. Every grant enhances students' lives and ensures a more enriching education. Visit www.d62.org/d62foundation to learn more about the foundation and past or current grants.

In 2001, a few motivated individuals formed the District 62 Foundation as a 501(c) 3 charitable organization and since then the foundation has paid for things such as:

• Specialized learning tools for reading and math

• Textbooks for budding authors

• Science and living history displays

• Multilingual reading materials

• Multilingual music inclusion programs

• Digital cameras for school newspapers

• Physical education equipment

• School field trips and traveling talent for in-school assemblies

• Anti-bullying assemblies

Silent auction items, program advertisers, and sponsors are also sought for this annual event.

To register for the D62 Foundation dinner online, visit http://ezregister.com/events/15790 or contact the foundation directly at D62Foundation@gmail.com. Seating is limited to 250. Reservations must be received no later than Wednesday, Feb. 10.
