Music is For a Lifetime

Music is a natural part of everyone. It creates an atmosphere of fun, interaction and excitement. That is why children are naturally drawn to it. If we nurture this ability, music will provide a lifetime of enjoyment and creativity.

Northshore Concert Band, an internationally known 100-member symphonic band that performs throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, continues its 60th Anniversary season with Carmina Burana: Love, Luck and Fate.

Part of their mission is "to foster and promote wind music and the adult band concept and to assist in the music education of young people." Their annual Lifetime of Music program, which is a highlight of their January 31, 2016 concert at Northwestern University's Pick-Staiger concert hall in Evanston, Illinois, is designed to introduce young musicians to the idea that "music is for a lifetime". By inviting the most talented young musicians of the Chicagoland area to join them onstage, the Northshore Concert Band hopes to demonstrate to younger musicians that there are opportunities for them to play and enjoy their instruments their entire lives, regardless of whether they choose a musical vocation.
