Liquor license revoked for Nardo's after Christmas shooting

A Lake Bluff-area tavern had its liquor license revoked for at least one year in response to a Christmas morning shooting that injured three people.

Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor said the liquor license at Nardo's BBQ Bar and Grill was revoked after the owners were accused of eight violations.

Lawlor, who also serves as the county's liquor commissioner, said the owner would have to petition for a new license in a year, should any liquor licenses be available at that time.

"This may be the first time Nardo's had a liquor violation, but a shooting at an establishment is a very serious violation," he said. "In addition, the establishment had a number of other violations at the location at the time the shooting took place."

Other violations that morning included serving alcohol to a minor, permitting a battery on the premises, serving alcohol to an intoxicated person and operating a liquor establishment past the licensed hours, Lawlor said.

Three people were wounded about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 25 after a shooting in the parking lot of the establishment at 5 N. Skokie Highway. All three injured have since been released from the hospital.

Investigators say a "heated argument" began inside the bar involving multiple people. The fight moved outside the building, where multiple shots were fired.

Saladine A. McKinney, 23, of North Chicago has since been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
