Make it six straight wins for Maine West

Maine West's girls basketball team won its sixth straight game on Saturday afternoon and remained unbeaten in 2016 (5-0) with a 72-56 victory over visiting Brooks High School from Chicago.

For the third straight game, Warriors coach Derril Kipp was able to play all 13 girls.

Top scorers for West (16-6) in the nonconference contest were Rachel Kent (16 points), Jordan Hart (12), Kayla Pociejewski (8), Eliza Palarz (8), Allison Pearson (7) and Destiny Onyeise (7).

Kent also pulled down 12 rebounds while Catherine Johnson had nine as the Warriors tied their season-high for points (also had 72 vs. Deerfield).

Maine West plays its third game in four days on Monday when it hosts Elk Grove at 7 p.m. in a nonconference game.

The game features three all-area softball players - West's Pociejewski and Elk Grove's Sarah Pauscher and Alex Masnica.
