Lincolnshire annexes old Cubby Bear North, golf course
Lincolnshire trustees on Monday annexed the Par-King Skill Golf course and the nearby site of the former Cubby Bear North bar into the village.
The moves will bring additional property tax to village coffers, as well as potential sales tax and other revenue. They also give Lincolnshire officials control over any future development there.
That's especially important when it comes to the old Cubby Bear, which has stood vacant for two years, Lincolnshire Village Manager Brad Burke said.
"It's an opportunity to have any potential new owner before the village in that critical quadrant of (Lincolnshire)," Burke said.
Totaling about 41 acres, both sites are on the east side of Milwaukee Avenue and south of Aptakisic Road, on the village's south end.
"It's such a high-profile, gateway parcel," Burke said.
The Par-King is at 21711 N. Milwaukee Ave., while the Cubby Bear North operated at 21661 N. Milwaukee Ave from 1999 to 2014.
Par-King owner Gus Boznos lives in a house near the golf course, but that structure isn't part of the annexation, Burke said.
Neither Boznos nor a representative from Loukas Real Estate, which owns the former Cubby Bear site in Lincolnshire and the Cubby Bear in Chicago's Wrigleyville, could be reached for comment.
The annexed properties had been in unincorporated Vernon Township and aren't far from Buffalo Grove. But a boundary agreement with that village called for the land to be added to Lincolnshire if annexation ever occurred, Burke said.
No changes are planned for either site, Burke said.
The annexations were approved without opposition and with little discussion.
