Tots celebrate New Year at noon in Schaumburg

The Schaumburg Park District's Itsy Bitsy New Year's Eve Countdown for children ages 1 to 6 is an annual tot favorite held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 31, at The Sport Center, 1141 Irving Park Road. Featuring unstructured play activities, the event includes inflatables for climbing, a variety of toys and games. Trikes, big wheels and motorized jeeps also will be available. Little ones will ring in 2016 at noon with a balloon drop.

"This is a fun event for little ones to ring in the New Year," said Karen Shannon, manager of The Sport Center. "They'll have an opportunity to spend time playing with their parents and socializing with other children."

Cost is $10 per family for residents and $15 per family for non-residents. Day-of registration is $15 per family for residents and $20 per family for non-residents. The first 200 registrants will receive a free noisemaker and lei. For information, call (847) 891-1266 or visit www.parkfun.com.
