Chicago chef's game show winnings help his soup kitchen

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago chef's win on a TV game show is helping him buy food for his restaurant's holiday soup kitchen.

The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/1QUYzxI) chef Quentin Love recently won $18,000 on the Food Network's "Guy's Grocery Games" hosted by Guy Fieri.

Love owns the restaurant Turkey Chop Gourmet Grill in Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood. He runs a weekly soup kitchen out of the restaurant, feeding thousands with help from donations and volunteers.

He says his winnings will go directly to that effort, including Christmas meals he's providing to churches and nonprofit groups.

Love is a 43-year-old veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He won the TV show's Veterans Holiday Showdown, which taped in the fall and aired recently. Another $18,000 when to the USO.
