Area company offers 'private jet' on wheels
Need some ultra-lux transportation to cart around your out of town family or friends this holiday season? Skip Uber and Lyft and treat them extremely well by booking Platinum Services.
The Chicago-based company launched this fall and unveiled its first offering, the Platinum 1, at a special downtown gala last week. The classy chassis started off as a stripped down 2015 Mercedes Sprinter van that underwent nearly five months of transformation, employing 16 craftsmen who worked by hand for 610 hours.
The end goal was to give riders the “private jet experience on wheels,” company executives said, and this extravagant hauler delivers.
There's seating for five in the back, utilizing custom Maybach sedan captain chairs, surrounded by supple white leather, LED lighting and mahogany wood. For those who are more focused on work than play, there's a pair of 60-inch TVs, onboard Wi-Fi, telecom meeting capabilities and international satellite hookup.
Other al-a-carte offerings include an onboard stewardess, executive assistant, personal security detail and, for those who are hungry, culinary treats prepared in collaboration with Filini Executive Chef Carol Diaz.
Rates start at around $900 for the first two hours for trips around the area.
