No. 19 Northwestern women beat East Carolina 78-75

CEDAR PARK, Texas (AP) - Maggie Lyon tied a career high with 26 points and Christen Inman hit the go-ahead bucket with 11 seconds left to help No. 19 Northwestern women hold off East Carolina for a 78-75 win at the Lone Star Showcase on Saturday night.

Ashley Deary scored 19, Nia Coffey added 17 with 12 rebounds and Inman finished with 12 points for Northwestern (6-0).

East Carolina (6-2) opened the fourth quarter with a 20-5 run that put the Lady Pirates up 70-66 with 3:24 to play.

Deary came up with steals on back-to-back ECU possessions during a 6-0 Wildcats spurt that put them back in front by two about a minute later.

I'Tiana Taylor scored five in a row for East Carolina to put the Lady Pirates up 75-74 with 1:21 left but Inman hit a jumper and two free throws in the final 11 seconds.

Taylor, who finished with a career-high 27 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, missed two free throws with seven seconds left and ECU trailing 76-75.

Jada Payne added 22 points and 13 rebounds for East Carolina.
