Challenge what you read

I really feel that I must respond to two letters in the Nov 6 Fencepost.

Mr. Richard Clark declared that our nation was founded "as a Christian nation according to the Constitution, the Federalist Papers and the Declaration of Independence." Not one of our founding fathers sanctioned that.

In fact, they were adamantly opposed against religion as evidenced in John Adams statement: "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."

Further readings of the Federalist Papers, etc will prove evidence this.

Also, on this same Nov. 6 date, Laurel Anderson berated Hillary Clinton for her role in the deaths of our American ambassadors in Benghazi.

All Americans deplore the loss of those diplomats of peace, but I for one, do not place the blame on Hillary Clinton -- who was our secretary of state at the time.

First of all, as I understand it, Benghazi does not have an Embassy, but a consulate. Not as well guarded as an Embassy would have been. And let's not forget that the Republican Oversight and Government Reform Committee had just recently cut funding for Embassy security on 10/10/12, saying, in fact that "we have to make priorities and choices in this country."

Those same Republican priorities were used to spread 4.5 million taxpayer dollars on eight Congressional investigations on Hillary Clinton's role in Benghazi instead.

I feel that people need to stop just accepting what your favorite media source tells you. Ask questions and explore on your own. Remember our past history and the role propaganda played in it. And as always, question what you read.
