Aurora chamber names new board chair

Alexander Pope, vice president at Rush-Copley Medical Center, has been named board chair for the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, serving a one-year term through July 2016.

Pope has been involved with the Aurora Chamber since 2012, when he participated in the Leadership Academy. He has served in other volunteer roles with the chamber and began on the board of directors in 2013.

He assumes the chair role from Laura Newman of Mitutoyo America Corp., who has moved to immediate past chair.

Other directors elected to leadership include Chair-elect Doug Buis, McKesson; Brian Konen, Konen Insurance Agency; and Terry Bishop, Sikich. Julie Proscia, SmithAmundsen, was reappointed as legal counsel. Rounding out the executive committee is Joseph Henning as corporate secretary.

Continuing on the board will be Lulu Blacksmith, Waubonsee Community College; Jacob Bonifield, Rasmussen College; Linda Pilmer, Pilmer Real Estate; Edward Hunter, Presence Mercy Medical Center; and Scott Roscoe, Pipe Fitters Local 597.

Retiring from the board are Keith Wheeler, past chair, Responsive Network Services; Kenneth Knight, Caterpillar; and Rick Slocum, Dreyer Foote Streit Furgason & Slocum.

Joining the board for a three-year term will be Konen; Kurt Norris, Caterpillar; and Karen Nelson, Old Second.
