Seasonal celebrations for 6 and younger crowd

Help your tot celebrate the holiday season with the Schaumburg Park District.

Submitted by Schaumburg Park District

The Schaumburg Park District is offering a variety of holiday-themed early childhood classes for the 6-year-old and younger crowd, including pre-Thanksgiving fun and winter festivities.

Upcoming classes include:

• Turkey Hunt: 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, Pat Shephard Center, 421 N. Springinsguth Road. Children ages 2-6 will stuff plush turkeys then search through Safety Park for hidden drumsticks and receive a special treat.

• Winter Wonderland Camp: 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Dec. 7-18, Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Parents may take a break, shop or do other errands while children ages 30 months to 4 years old enjoy games, socialization and other activities.

"Children typically don't like shopping, especially when it's cold," said Jeanne Gonzalez, Safety Park and Tot Program coordinator. "This way they can be inside and sing songs, make crafts and meet friends.

"This is an excellent way to introduce small children to the different classes offered at the district. It's great socialization for them,"Gonzalez said.

Other upcoming early childhood classes include:

• Puppy Patrol: 1-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 (ages 3-6)

• Winter's Here!: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8-Thursday, Dec. 17 (ages 18 months to 3 years)

• Minnie's Very Merry Party: 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 (ages 42 months to 6 years)

• Olaf's Frosty Day Out: 1-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 (ages 3-6).
