Schaumburg rec center unveils $2.5 million in upgrades

Schaumburg residents will have an opportunity to tour the renovated Community Recreation Center, and experience several new programs when the Schaumburg Park District celebrates $2.5 million in improvements with a grand reopening on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Set for noon to 2 p.m. at the center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, the celebration will include tours of the new space, free fitness programs and children's crafts, along with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m.

Over the past eight months, the CRC underwent a massive improvement project, adding more than 22,000 square feet of new and renovated program space. The project was a direct result of the district's most recent citizen survey that put the CRC at the top of the list of facilities that needed improvement.

Renovations included:

• New private and semiprivate music studios

• New TRX and group fitness rooms

• More programming space for Kasper, cultural arts, general interest programs and summer camps

• Increased fitness center space
