Gurnee park controlled burn

The Gurnee Park District will conduct a controlled burn of conservation areas at Hunt Club Park, 900 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee. Weather permitting, the burn will take place sometime between November 2015 and January 2016, possibly during the week of November 16, officials said in a news release. Such burn are used to control the growth of alien and exotic plants to make room for native plants. There is a minimal threat to wildlife or adjacent property. The burn is scheduled depending on proper environmental conditions such as wind direction and speed.
