Benny the Bull and other Chicago Bulls entertainers made a surprise visit Thursday to MacArthur Elementary School in Hoffman Estates to help celebrate the arrival of the team's new NBA Development League team in the village.
In a move initially reported late last month, the Bulls formally announced Wednesday they would bring a D-League franchise to Hoffman Estates' Sears Centre Arena starting with the 2016-17 season.
Students who were expecting a dance party at Thursday's school assembly instead got a chance to visit with Benny, The IncrediBulls and The Luvabulls.
"We are extremely excited to have the Bulls here," MacArthur Principal Ivette Rivera-Weigle said. "Our theme this year is 'Live a life to Remember,' so we told them to work hard, but it's also important to take time to celebrate that hard work."
Kids were given Bulls collectibles like sunglasses and sweatbands as they played games and danced with the group from the Chicago Bulls organization.
The Bulls entertainers made other stops around Hoffman Estates on Thursday, including several businesses and village hall.
