Madigan sues owners of Kane County concrete companies

The owners of two Kane County concrete companies face a lawsuit that alleges they cheated customers by doing shoddy, incomplete work and failing to return deposits.

The lawsuit filed by Attorney General Madigan's office targets Pathways Concrete and Envision Concrete, saying they've taken $85,000 for work that was either substandard or never performed.

Thomas Patrick Ratz, of Aurora, doing business as Pathways Concrete and Envision Concrete, and Ola S. Williams, also of Aurora, doing business as Envision Concrete, are both accused of violating the state's Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

Pathways Concrete clients in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties report losses of over $50,000. Complaints against Envision Concrete include consumers from DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties who reported losses of over $35,400.

Madigan wants the court to prevent Ratz and Williams from doing business in Illinois. The lawsuit also seeks to nullify any contracts, provide restitution and impose civil penalties on Ratz and Williams.

Anyone who might been scammed by either company should call (800) 386-5438, the attorney general's office said.
