Northern Indiana police shoot, wound man at rural home

NORTH JUDSON, Ind. (AP) - State police say they're investigating a police-action shooting in northern Indiana that wounded a man who allegedly fought with officers at a rural home.

State police said North Judson and Starke County Sheriff's Department officers were called about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday to a home near North Judson on a report of a domestic disturbance.

A preliminary investigation shows the officers called to that home about 40 miles southwest of South Bend encountered a man who began fighting with the officers. The officers shot the man during that altercation and he was airlifted to a South Bend hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The man's name was not immediately released.

State police said no officer was injured in Tuesday's confrontation.
