Palatine man charged with battery to women, officer

Palatine police early Friday morning arrested a 25-year-old man on charges he pushed two women at a bar and then battered an officer who pursued him.

Stephen Arrington, of the 200 block of Brockway Street in Palatine, faces two counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of felony aggravated battery to a peace officer.

According to police, officers were called Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., at about 1:30 a.m. on reports a man had pushed two female customers before running from the bar.

Shortly after officers received a description of the man, one spotted him on the 100 block of West Wood Street, police said. The officer ordered the man to stop, but the suspect began running and a foot chase ensued.

When the officer cornered the man in a parking lot, the suspect turned and "physically engaged the officer," according to police. The man was able to break free and run away, but was caught a short time later at his residence, police said.

The officer suffered visible injuries in the attack, but did not seek medical attention, according to police.

Arrington was taken to a bond hearing in Chicago on Saturday, but information on his bond amount was not immediately available.
