Officials: Rolling Meadows police investigating baby's death
Rolling Meadows police are conducting a death investigation after a 2-month-old boy died in his family's home Saturday morning, officials said.
"This is a death investigation that we're conducting like we would any other case involving a baby," Police Chief Dave Scanlan said Monday.
Scanlan said officers responded to the family's home on the 4700 block of Arbor Drive after receiving a 911 call from the infant's parents. The boy was pronounced dead at 11 a.m., according to Cook County medical examiner's office.
Scanlan said the infant's parents have had no other contacts with police, and detectives are conducting only a death investigation at this point. Results of testing by the medical examiner's office are pending, he added.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services also is investigating, which is routine in a case like this.
"It would be premature to make any assumptions right now," Scanlan said.
