One Book program gets musical with Latin Ensemble

Arlington Heights' One Book, One Village program takes a musical turn Nov. 14 when the Greg Duncan Latin Ensemble performs in concert at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights.

The Latin Ensemble blends contemporary jazz with traditional flamenco and Latin music, with horns, rhythm and vocals. The band will play at 7 p.m. at Metropolis, 111 W. Campbell St.

The program is free, as it is part of the 2015 One Book, One Village program, which is reading "The Book of Unknown Americans" by Cristina Henriquez. Concertgoers must sign up for tickets in advance at MetropolisArts.com or the Box Office, (847) 577-2121.

The Greg Duncan Latin Ensemble has played at jazz clubs in Chicago and Europe, and were showcased at the 2013 Chicago Latin Jazz Festival. Their appearance is part of the Live Music Series at Metropolis, which brings high-level musical talent to the Chicago area.
