Scarecrows adorn Barrington for annual festival

Scarecrow building, pumpkin painting and pony rides all were highlights of Barrington's 15th annual Scarecrow Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park on South Hough Street.

Hundreds of people attend the free event, which also has arts and crafts, balloon animals, face painting, cookie decorating, inflatable games, Bob The DJ and more.

Scarecrows are throughout the village, as more than 80 merchants, offices and schools have created original scarecrows to adorn their store fronts and businesses.

Residents and visitors are invited to vote for their favorites on the village's website, www.barrington-il.gov. Click on "Quick Link - Scarecrow Voting" in top right hand corner of the home page to see photos of all of the scarecrows.

Click on the photo of your favorite scarecrow and hit "send" to cast a vote. Or visit the village Facebook page and "Like" your favorite scarecrows.

Vote for as many scarecrows as you like, but only one vote per email address, per scarecrow will count.

Online voting will continue until Halloween, Oct. 31. Winners will be announced on the village website Monday, Nov. 2.
