Elk Grove Township offers financial workshops

Residents of Elk Grove Township are invited to take advantage of free back-to-back financial workshops aimed at providing practical strategies on how to plan for the future.

The first workshop, "Key Strategies to Plan Your Financial Future," begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Elk Grove Township Meeting Room, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. The second begins at 8 p.m., and is entitled "2015 Review, 2016 Forecast and Strategies to Implement Now."

Among the topics to be covered are how to identify financial risk, increase returns, and reduce incomes taxes. Setting proper financial goals and how to diversify investments also will be discussed, in addition to information relating to life insurance and long-term care insurance.

"People lament over what they could have done in regards to planning for their financial future," said Robert Mecca, a certified financial planner for 30 years who will present the workshops. "It's never too late to start your planning to move forward, whatever your age or financial situation."

The workshops are being offered in conjunction with the overall mission of Elk Grove Township, which is to assist in providing for the health, safety and welfare of all township residents.

"Financial planning can be a difficult topic for many people to address," Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney said. "We are providing this educational forum for township residents so they can be armed with tools to help them fortify their planning efforts."
