Elgin police seek info about gunshots, armed robbery

Elgin police are seeking information about gunshots and an armed robbery Thursday night, both on the 1300 to 1400 block of Abbott Drive, officials said.

Police were called just before 9:30 p.m. about shots fired; when officers arrived, they found evidence of a gun being fired and saw several people in cars leaving the area, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department. No one was injured, and there was no property damage.

Later, when detectives arrived, a man told them he and a friend were confronted by a man with a gun who threatened them and demanded money. The suspect took several electronic items and left. The victim was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital where he was treated and released.

Both incidents remain under investigation; it is not yet known whether they are related.
