Several inmates charged in fight at Kane County jail

Eleven inmates of the Kane County jail have been charged with aggravated battery in a public place, after a fight at the jail.

The charges were announced Friday.

According to Lt. Patrick Gengler, at about 11 a.m. Sept. 27, 33 of the 63 men being detained in one cellblock began to fight. The lone officer assigned to that area called for help, and officers were able to get detainees back in their cells in about five minutes.

No officers were injured. Several of the inmates had scratches and bruises.

Charged with aggravated battery were:

Jorge Chavez, of Chicago; Victor Rivera, of Elgin; Armando Delgado, Robert Ramos, Josua Matias, Jose Bonilla, Tranon Meeks, Noel DeLuna and Kevin Parks, all of Aurora; Chad Conway, of Rockton; and Martin Munoz-Perez, of West Chicago.

Four others were charged with resisting a peace officer. They are Miguel Covarrubias of Elgin, Kenneth Newsome of Montgomery, Ramon Ayala of Chicago and JaMarcus Reynolds of Aurora.
