DuPage Medical Group acquires Meridian Medical Associates

DOWNERS GROVE - DuPage Medical Group has completed the acquisition of Meridian Medical Associates S.C. & Midwest Hospitalists, LLC.

DMG announced plans to acquire Meridian Medical in April. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Meridian Medical Associates is a multi-specialty physician group serving patients in Joliet and the surrounding communities in Will County. The acquisition will expand DMG's existing service-area footprint.

Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, DMG will add 41 of Meridian Medical's primary care physicians and specialists in 12 specialty departments. The doctors of Meridian Medical have been serving patients for more than 60 years.

The addition of the Meridian Medical physicians will bring DMG's physician total to more than 475 doctors. Additionally, Meridian Medical patients will now have access to DMG services and specialists in more than 50 practice specialties at nearly 70 locations.

"The completion of this important business growth acquisition is significant for our organization, particularly as we continue to grow our services outside of DuPage County," said DMG CEO Mike Kasper. "The leadership teams from both DMG and Meridian Medical have worked closely together over the past several months to create a smooth transition and integration for patients, physicians and employees."

The transition includes expanded insurance plan coverage now being accepted by the former Meridian Medical Associates physicians, including Medicare Advantage and HMO plans. All plans accepted can be found online at bit.ly/1KLeHLh. In addition to insurance coverage expansion, former Meridian Medical patients will now have access to DMG's patient portal, MyChart.

"DMG is pleased to welcome Meridian Medical's patients and employees," added DMG President Dr. Paul Merrick. "We are excited to begin offering access to a broader scope of resources and technology, as we continue the tradition of serving our communities with exceptional, personalized care."
