Nicki Minaj gets TV sitcom; 50 Cent inks new Starz deal

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Television loves music stars, as two deals with Nicki Minaj and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson demonstrate.

ABC Family said Tuesday that Minaj will executive produce and appear in a new scripted comedy series for the cable channel.

The sitcom will be based on her family's move from Trinidad to the United States and Minaj's development as an artist growing up in Queens, New York, the channel said. It will be shot in Queens this winter.

The air date and other cast member were not announced.

Also Tuesday, Starz said it has signed Jackson to an exclusive two-year deal to develop new projects for the channel.

He also will continue to serve as executive producer on the drama series "Power," which is in production for its third season on Starz.
