Huntley hoping to limit big plays against undefeated Cary-Grove

Cary-Grove (4-0, 0-0) at Huntley (4-0, 0-0)

Game time: 7:15 p.m. Friday

Last week: Cary-Grove Huntley 46, Hampshire 20; Cary-Grove 34, Woodstock North 0

Last year: Cary-Grove 42, Huntley 14

Huntley aims for its first win against league power Cary-Grove since joining the Fox Valley Conference, while the defending FVC Valley champs look to get off on the right foot in the division opener.

Cary-Grove replaced most of the defenders from a 13-1 team last season, yet hasn't missed a beat. The Trojans are limiting teams to 171.5 yards and 10.3 points per game.

Offensively, they have rushed for 1,287 of their 1,579 total yards (395 avg.), paced by fullback Tyler Pennington. The junior has rushed 99 times for 507 yards and 6 touchdowns.

"Our keys for being successful, like most people when they play the triple option, is limiting the fullback's success, limiting the big play," Huntley coach John Hart said. "And we have to score in the red zone and finish drives. That's what Cary's so good at. They do such a good job of maintaining defensively until they make a play or you make a mistake."

The Red Raiders counter with quarterback Anthony Binetti, who has completed 50 of 77 passes for 993 yards and 12 touchdowns against 6 interceptions.

Sophomore Eric Mooney has rushed 23 times for 322 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Defensively, linebackers Daniel Dennis and Tim McCloyn each have 16 solo tackles.

"We have to go about our business, which means recognizing who they have on defense from a personnel and team standpoint and attacking as such," Cary-Grove coach Brad Seaburg said. "You'd have to be pretty ignorant not to notice those linebackers. They look like they could play on Saturdays."

Next week: Cary-Grove at McHenry (1-3); Jacobs (4-0) at Huntley
