A Barrington man died in a two-car crash in Lake Barrington Thursday morning and the preliminary investigation suggests it was because he failed to yield to a dump truck, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.

Mark Agnini, 67, died of multiple traumatic injuries from the crash, Lake County Coronor Chief Deputy Orlando Portillo said.

Agnini was driving his Subaru Outlander south on Cuba Road about 9:30 a.m. and attempting to cross Route 14, Lake County sheriff's spokesman Chris Covelli said. The Subaru was struck on the driver's side by a Peterbilt dump truck driving northwest on Route 14 in the inner lane of traffic.

Agnini was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured and is cooperating fully with police, Covelli said.

Covelli said Cuba Road has stop signs at that intersection, but Northwest Highway does not. The crash kept westbound Route 14 closed until 4 p.m. as police investigated and cleared debris.
