Police, task force investigating Barrington death

The Barrington Police Department and the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team are investigating after the police and fire departments were called Tuesday afternoon for a death investigation on the 500 block of North Avenue, according to a Barrington Police Department news release.

Efforts to reach the fire department were unsuccessful, and the Barrington Police Department said it expects to release more details Wednesday.

A police command truck -- usually reserved for violent crimes -- was a startling sight for neighbors, ABC 7 reported on its website.

"Nothing ever happens here, and then all of sudden we've got this huge truck here, not just regular police activity, so it's kind of scary," neighbor Ewa Cebula told an ABC 7 news reporter.

The first sign of trouble came late Tuesday afternoon, neighbors said.

"I've seen a lady coming out of her house, looking real sad, hugging a cop. They put her in a car," neighbor Melissa Blach told ABC 7.
