Bud's Run this Saturday in Lake Villa

The Lake Villa Township Republican Club will host Bud's Run, a 5K run/walk and 10K run, Saturday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m., at Grant Woods Forest Preserve, 25100 W. Rollins Road, Ingleside. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Registration online at www.LakeVillaTownship5k.com is recommended. The first 300 registered runners will receive a T-shirt. The idea for the Lake Villa Township 5K run originated with Howard "Bud" Scott, a lifelong resident and well-known figure in the Lake Villa area. He was a teacher, principal and superintendent at Grant High School in Fox Lake and he served on the Lake Villa Fire Protection District Board and as chairman of the Fox Waterway Agency Board. The Republican Day Community Picnic will be held after the run. Residents can meet candidates and elected officials, learn about their districts, and find out how to become involved as a precinct committeeman. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided for all who attend.
