One penny per ounce equals fewer jobs

I just saw an add for Coke for $2.77 per 12 pack. The money-grubbing politicians want to tax pop at 1 penny per ounce. Here's the math. One penny times 12 ounces per can, times 12 cans per 12-pack, equals a tax of $1.44.

Yes, it's a tax of $1.44 on a 12-pack that costs $2.77. That is a tax of 52 percent.

Here is a result I'm sure the politicians have not thought through. A tax like this will destroy the great Coca-Cola company. As well, many Coke bottlers are located in the greater Chicago area, and many employees will lose their jobs.

Can manufacturers and their suppliers are also in the Chicago area, and again, many jobs will be lost there as well.

This tax would be brutal and devastate jobs in the area. That certainly would be unfair, but so is such a stupid tax.

Coke does not make you fat, calories do. Will the politicians tax cakes, and cookies, and candies? How about cheese burgers or french fries?

Where will it end?

Hey politicians, why don't you learn to spend less money and leave us poor Coke drinkers alone?
