Boys soccer: Elgin to play for LaSallian Cup title

Elgin 7, CICS Northtown 0: Jonathan Ramirez's 4 goals propelled the Maroons to a 5-0 start and more importantly the LaSallian Cup championship Saturday at 3 p.m. Andy Zavala, Manuel Ramirez and Mishael Gomez also added goals while Jesus Lopez, Tirso Reynoso, Danny Zavala and Pedro Hernandez each had assists. Keeper Martin Jimenez tallied 3 saves for the shutout.

Bartlett 1, Waubonsie Valley 0: Tim Riordan's shot in the 17th minute, on an assist from Oliver Saile, guided the Hawks (2-1) past a former Upstate Eight foe at the Best of the West Tournament. Jake Hasenstein shutout the Warriors with 4 saves in net.

Dundee-Crown 3, Rockford East 0: The Chargers improved to 3-1-1 in a nonconference win as Andrew Janikowski, Julian Ajorja and Daniel Maldonado all found the back of the net. Freddy Martinez had 1 assist and keeper Avery Lavoglia got the shutout with 2 saves.

Burlington Central 3, Rockford Christian 0: Sophomore Jack Schramme tallied 2 goals while Austin Grenert offered 2 assists in a Big Northern East win for the Rockets (2-1-1, 1-0). Danny Hall had 1 goal and Luke Schramme had 1 assist and Ryan Fitzgerald needed 1 save for a shutout.

Jacobs 4, Kaneland 1: The Golden Eagles (3-0) used a Noah Melick-Colin Walsh combo twice in the first half of a nonconference win over the Knights. Both scored and assisted each other while Melick and Rigby added second half goals. Cris Guzman had 1 assist while Ethan Pickering made 3 saves. The Knights (0-3-1) received a Trevor Jahns' netter off a Dan Perez corner kick in the first half.

Harvest Christian 10, Cornerstone 0: Raphael DeSouza notched 3 goals and 2 assists in a commanding win for the Lions (3-0-1). Both Sergio (1 goalie save) and Cesar Velazquez had 2 goals and 1 assist while Zach Floyd had 1 goal and 1 assist. Other goal scorers included Sam Serrato and Mark Davila while Antonio Navarez added 2 assists and Joe Hackl 1. Keeper Matthew Baron had 1 save in net as well.

Elmwood Park 6, St. Edward 2: The Green Wave dropped to 0-3 in a Metro Suburban crossover loss. Alex Semler and Zach Olenek had goals in the first half while Jacob Tywara registered an assist. Eric Parks managed 8 saves while Peter Cholew had 3 in net.

Warren 4, CL South 0: The Gators (1-1-3) suffered their first defeat of the season and will go for fifth place Saturday at the 27th annual Barrington Classic. Brandon Gorka collected 3 first half saves in net while Spencer Traub corralled 2 in the second half.
