Batavia Dance Team awarded superior rating

The Batavia Dance Team competed in an elite Universal Dance Association dance camp in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in July.

Both the junior varsity and varsity teams were awarded superior rankings for their performances.

By obtaining a superior rating, the varsity team qualified to compete in the UDA National Competition, which will be held at Walt Disney World in January 2016. The varsity team is coached by Angela Fuqua.

In addition to competing in this prestigious camp, the girls were very busy all summer volunteering in the Batavia community. In June, the team ranked as one of the top three fundraisers for cancer research at Relay For Life.

The team also raised money for the Batavia Food Pantry and collected a carload of food to donate.

This Friday, both teams will be performing with junior members of the Batavia community who participated in a Batavia Park District Little Poms camp at the half-time show of the Batavia vs. South Elgin varsity football game.
