Appeal assessments in Schaumburg Township until Sept. 21

Schaumburg Township residents who believe their property has been over assessed can appeal during the open appeal period through the Cook County Assessor's Office.

Single-family residential property owners can appeal their assessments through Sept. 21 at the Schaumburg Township Assessors Office at 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates during normal business hours.

Schaumburg Township Assessor John R. Lawson encourages any residential property owner that recently appealed with the Cook County Assessor's Office or the Cook County Board of Review to appeal again.

"I have noticed that many property owners were successful in reducing their property assessments with the Cook County Assessor or Cook County Board of Review," Lawson said. "It is my opinion that the assessment can be lower."
