SPRINGFIELD -- Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz declined to talk about the investigation by upstate New York police into star player Patrick Kane.

Wirtz attended the opening of the Illinois State Fair with the Stanley Cup in tow today, but he said he had nothing more to say about the investigation.

"I think it wouldn't be appropriate," Wirtz said. "At this point, we're hopeful, and that's about it."

The Buffalo News quoted sources last week as saying a woman has alleged Kane sexually assaulted her at his home. Kane is not charged with any crime.

The investigation has put an unwanted spotlight on Kane and the team. Video game giant EA Sports, for example, has dropped Kane from the cover of the upcoming NHL 16.

Wirtz also declined questions about whether he's talked to Kane.

"I've said everything we could," he said.
