Show your creative side at art festival

If you've ever wandered through the halls of an art museum and wished to learn how to make the enchanting creations displayed, head on over to the Lincolnshire Art festival this weekend to enhance your artistic skill set.

With interactive art demos, chats with local artists and a mural open to anyone's creations, the festival will offer guests a chance to not just peruse art, but participate in it.

The 18th festival, which will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16, will host around 100 juried artists from around the country, displaying examples of fine art and fine crafts.

The event will feature art in different mediums like glass, wood, oil paint, acrylic and even multimedia. Price points will vary.

Though attending artists come from around the country, there will be many local Illinois artists.

While attendees shop, they can enjoy food from local restaurants and live music sponsored by WLIT, the 93.9 FM station,

The event will have family-friendly activities for festivalgoers of all ages.

There will be an art scavenger hunt and spin art for children. Spin art uses colorful paint, a canvas and a spinning platform to demonstrate the process of art creation.

The festival will take place in the Village Green of Lincolnshire at Milwaukee Avenue and Olde Half Day Road. Each day it will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It is produced by Amdur Productions, which holds other art festivals in the area throughout the year. During the weekend, there will be a raffle drawing and the winner will receive money to spend on a piece of art at the festival.

Admission and parking are free.
