Police investigating sexual assault in Arlington Heights park

Arlington Heights police say they are investigating a report of a sexual assault in a village park last week.

According to a police report, a 23-year-old woman said an unknown offender sexually assaulted her between 2:20 and 3 a. m. Aug. 1 after she fell asleep at Gateway Park, 200 E. Northwest Hwy.

Arlington Heights Deputy Chief Mike Hernandez said police believe she and her boyfriend had been sleeping in the park.

Hernandez said the woman and her boyfriend met the offender in the park earlier that night. He is described as being tan-skinned, about 5 feet, 5 inches, with a flat nose wearing a sleeveless shirt, camouflage bandanna and gray jeans.
