Hoffman Estates man dies in Barrington Hills crash

A Hoffman Estates man died in a one-vehicle crash in Barrington Hills on yesterday afternoon. Barrington Hills officers were called about a crash around 1:15 p.m. at Old Sutton Road north of Route 62, where they found an Infiniti I30 had left the road, struck a tree and overturned, according to a news release. Co-founder of Pixar to headline Willow Creek Leadership Summit

The co-founder of Pixar, a Harvard Law professor and the youngest tenured professor at the Wharton School, are among the “teachers” at the Global Leadership Summit starting today at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington. Nearly 8,500 people will be on the Willow Creek campus for the 21st annual summit. Another 102,000 will watch the summit on big screens at 449 locations around the country, said Steve Bell, executive vice president of the Willow Creek Association. Full story.

Lawyer: Injuries, death from Wood Dale tent collapse preventable

A personal injury attorney representing the family of Steven Nincic says the tragic festival tent collapse that killed the 35-year-old Wood Dale man was both “predictable and preventable.” Louis Cairo said he intends to file suit on behalf of Nincic's family by the end of the week, claiming the city had an evacuation plan for a storm such as the one that struck the Prairie Fest grounds Sunday afternoon but that festival staff members and city police officers did not follow it. COD trustees may have to pay to get financial records they seek

Two College of DuPage trustees who filed Freedom of Information Act requests for financial records from their own school might each have to pay as much as $100 to get the documents. Trustees Erin Birt and Dianne McGuire last week submitted requests seeking financial reports, invoices and disbursement records dating to April 30, and other records. But the college's freedom of information officer, Barb Mitchell, this week informed Birt and McGuire that their July 27 FOIA submission is being treated as “a voluminous request.” Full story.

Fox: Bears not ‘covering up' news on rookie

The Bears continue not to provide much clarification on the shin injury that has kept first-round pick Kevin White idle for seven weeks, so coach John Fox continues to be asked about it. “He's a got shin,” Fox said. “You can call it splints, call it whatever you want.
