Authorities say Aurora area shooting appears to be gang-related

Authorities believe a shooting and fight at a large party in Aurora Township early Saturday morning were gang-related.

Officials from the Kane County Sheriff's Office said a fight broke out at a party on the 300 block of South Calhoun Street in an unincorporated area, and at some point, shots were fired from a black Cadillac driving down the street near the party.

Deputies recovered several shell casings from a handgun, but did not locate any victims, so it's believed no one was hit, authorities said.

Witnesses told deputies that a male subject's arm was injured in the fight, but he left before police arrived on scene. A large number of people fled the area in cars and on foot when deputies arrived, according to a news release.
